One of the key features of the app is the ability to create a safe online environment for your children. You can set boundaries to block inappropriate content and restrict browsing to kid-friendly websites on Windows, Xbox, and Android devices using Microsoft Edge. Additionally, you will receive notifications when your kids try to download apps or games from the Microsoft Store that have age limits, keeping you informed and helping you avoid any surprises.

Another important aspect of the app is its focus on promoting healthy digital habits and providing transparency into your family's online activities. You can view your kids’ weekly activity, which can serve as a starting point for discussing their online behavior. The app also allows you to set device limits on Xbox and Windows devices. If your children need to use devices for an extended period of time, such as for online learning, you can set time limits on specific apps or games on Xbox, Windows, or Android.

In addition to online safety, Microsoft Family Safety helps you stay connected with your family offline through location sharing. You can use the family tracker feature to know where your family members are at any given time and easily share your own location. The app also allows you to save frequently visited places like work and school for easy access.

Furthermore, with a Microsoft 365 Family subscription, you gain access to additional features such as location alerts when someone arrives or departs from a specific location, as well as drive safety features. These drive safety features provide insights into your family's driving habits, including phone usage while driving, top speed, hard braking events, and more.

Here are some key features offered by Microsoft Family Safety:

• Screen time management: Set limits on app and game usage across Xbox, Windows, and Android devices. View a summary of screen time and online usage and receive notifications when a user requests additional time.
• Content filters: Safely explore the web with customizable web and search content filters using Microsoft Edge. Block inappropriate apps and games.
• Family location tracker: Share GPS location with your loved ones, track locations, and save frequently visited places. Receive location alerts when someone arrives or departs from a specific location (premium benefit).
• Driving reports: Gain insights into driving habits, including top speed, hard braking events, acceleration, and phone usage while driving (premium benefit). View drive history along the route (premium benefit).

To access the full range of features offered by Microsoft Family Safety, you will need a qualifying Microsoft 365 Family subscription. The subscription unlocks location alerts and drive safety features. However, all other features are free and available for download with the app. Please note that location tracking and driving safety features require active location permissions. Additionally, drive safety is currently available only in select countries.

If you choose to purchase a monthly Microsoft 365 subscription through the app, the charges will be billed to your App Store account. The subscription will automatically renew within 24 hours before the end of the current subscription period unless you disable auto-renewal in your App Store account settings.
